Method, not magic

A small sample.
A careful estimate.

01

A defined universe

Every question maps to one of 50,000 ranked, single-token English lemmas. Twenty come from each of five rank bands.

02

Guessing correction

A wrong forced choice subtracts one third of a point. “I don’t know” carries no penalty and is the honest move.

03

Cautious uncertainty

We resample your answers 2,000 times to show a conservative estimate and a plausible 90% sampling range.

Public-beta limits

The denominator is a real, versioned 50,000-lemma dataset derived from wordfreq 3.1.1 / Princeton WordNet 3.0. The 100 editorial questions have not been calibrated on representative participants, so this remains an experimental estimate—not a validated assessment. Read the full methodology.
